Venturing Adult Training Series

P21 – Venturing Leader Specific Training
This training course introduces the new adult crew leader to Venturing by providing basic information needed to successfully operate a crew.  This information includes the purpose and mission of Venturing, characteristics of Venture-aged youth, organization and leadership of the crew, and program planning and officer training.

P30 – Sea Scout Leader Specific Training (Currently not offered in SE Wisconsin Council) 
This training introduces the new adult ship leader to Sea Scouting by providing basic information needed to successfully operate a ship. This information includes the purpose and mission of Sea Scouting; characteristics of Sea Scout-aged youth; organization and leadership of the ship; and program planning and officer training.  Topics include Sea Scout experience areas, Skipper’s responsibilities, understanding and protecting youth, Ship leadership and organization, awards and recognition and resources and program planning.

P31 – Crew Officer’s Seminar
Venturing is a program where high-school age boys and girls take a lead role in organizing and running their own high adventure activities. This multimedia program, covers specific leadership skills in program planning, money-earning, and running effective committees. This presentation should be a first step in training effective crew leadership."

P32 – Venturing Leadership Skills Course (offered by Venture Crew leadership)
This course is designed to be used by crew Advisors to teach leadership skills to all Venturers in the crew.  It is a series of leadership modules divided into four categories: vision, communication, organization and synergism.  Each module is introduced by an activity and followed by reflection.  Completion of this course is a requirement for the Venturing Silver Award, and conducting the course is a requirement for the Venturing Advisor Award of Merit. 

P50 – Powder Horn Training(Currently not offered in SE Wisconsin Council)
Powder Horn Training is a training opportunity designed to expose the Venturing or Boy Scout leader to activities and resources necessary to operate a successful Venturing Ranger Award or Troop High Adventure program.  The course provides an introduction to the resources necessary to successfully lead their Venturers and older Boy Scouts through a program of high adventure.  Familiarizes the Advisor with the Ranger program so that he or she can help the Venturer to meet the requirements of the Ranger Award  This course is based on the Venturing Ranger requirements giving participants an exposure to outdoor/high adventure activities.

PFS – Venturing Fast Start (on-line)
This is the first step for any volunteer new to Venturing.  Take this course immediately after you register.  You are introduced to the aims and purposes of the BSA’s coeducational program for youth ages 14-20.  The one-hour course explains how the program works to deliver a relevant and compelling program.

Y01 - Youth Protection Training – Venturing Version
(on-line)
As a Venturing Advisor, you are an important figure in the lives of your crew members. They are likely to turn to you for advice and guidance, or to tell you about problems they face in their lives. They may come to you about their problems before they talk to their parents about them.
