Scout Adult Training Series
V21 – Varsity Coach Leader Specific Training (Currently not
offered in SE Wisconsin Council)
This consists of three sessions, each 2 to 3 hours long that
flow from one to the other and should be conducted in the
sequence listed. The training closely follows the Varsity
Scout Guidebook that is used as the course workbook.
Sessions include the role of the Varsity Scout Coach, using
the outdoor and advancement program of Varsity to provide
mountain top challenges, using program planning and team
administration for Varsity Team success.
S11 – Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills
Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills is designed to
help an adult volunteer learn outdoor Scouting skills in a
highly hands-on setting. Topics include campsite selection,
ropes, woods tools (knife, saw, ax), fire site preparation
and building, cooking, first aid, plant and animal
identification, packing and hiking techniques, finding your
way with map and compass, Leave No Trace. This course is
typically offered in our council on a weekend, from Friday 6
PM – Sunday 2:30 PM.
V34 – Youth Leaders in Varsity Scouting (Currently not
offered in SE Wisconsin Council)
VFS – Venturing Advisor Leader Fast Start
This is the first step for
any volunteer new to Venturing. This course should be taken
immediately after you register but before you begin youth
activities. The course introduces the aims and purposes of
the Boy Scouts of America's coeducational program for youth
from 14 to 20 years of age, and goes on to explain how the
program works to deliver a relevant and compelling program.
